Season now looking very optimistic as opener in Estonia moves to August
Across Europe the sporting world is beginning to stir, and the first spectators are appearing, if under strict control and regulations, at football and other major events. This is all due to the success of the Europe-wide vaccination programme, which has given light and hope to many sporting organisations.
We are not completely free of this pandemic problem, so extreme caution needs to be exercised, along with the various government controls in place if we are to resume anything like normal business.
To that end, we at WSC, in conjunction with the FIM and the Estonian Federation (EMF) have taken the decision to postpone the Estonian GP to the weekend of 14-15 August.
Under the current agreements, that means that Strassbessenbach will now play host to the opener on July 31st/August 1st.
Signs in Germany are promising, with the vaccine programme going well in that country, but the final decision has been not taken yet because of uncertain Covid regulations concernin sport events in Germany. Lange in Estonia therefore, will host the second GP two weeks later.
There is now room for real optimism that there will be a meaningful 2021 FIM World Sidecar Motocross season, albeit in the second half of the year.
The revised, but still provisional calendar now looks like this :
July 31/August 1 Germany Strassbessenbach
August 14-15 Estonia Lange
August 21-22 Czech Rep Jinin
August 28-29 Switzerland Roggenburg
September 18-19 Netherlands Oss
September 25-26 Germany Rudersberg
October 9-10 Czech Rep Kramolin
October 2-3 SQMX of Nations France Dardon Gueugnon
