New Champions Vanluchene and Van Den Bogaart will celebrate in Vesoul Finale this weekend

The 2018 season comes to a close over this weekend 1-2 September in France at the legendary Vesoul circuit. The Championship was wrapped up in emphatic style last weekend in Switzerland, by the victorious Belgian Marvin Vanluchene and his Dutch, now four-times champion co-driver Ban Van Den Bogaart.

They arrive in France with the pressure now well and truly off the shoulders of the twenty-two year old Vanluchene.

He gained the accolade of becoming the youngest ever World Champion driver in the sport, whilst the honour for that title in the ranks of passenger, sits with Kaspars Stupelis.

It will take something special for the out-going champion Etienne Bax to salvage second place, because another youngster sits forty-five points ahead of him.

Koen Hermans and Nicolas Musset have also shocked the establishment with their speed and consistency, and are unlikely to fail in their objective for the silver medal position.

So it looks like third for Bax and Stupelis, but after that, there is a cluster of teams all in with a very strong shout for the following positions.

Valentin Giraud and Johnny Badaire are fast on home ground, and if Daniel Willemsen and Robbie Bax falter, then fourth place could be theirs.

Down to tenth, there is little to choose, and that elite top ten group is now the objective of the chasing pack.

So, whilst the championship is done and dusted at the top, expect to see a frantic battle for those other places.

Vesoul is another hard and fast track, so given good weather, and the always enthusiastic French crowd, Vanluchene and Van Den Bogaart will celebrate in style.

Our WSC team will be there to bring you all the blow by blow action as it unfolds on , and the highlights show later in the week on Motorsport TV
