Elvijs Mucenieks has had a successful operation

In Sunday's warm-up in Talavera de la Reina, where the third Grand Prix of this season was held, the French-Latvian crew Valentin Giraud and Elvijs Mucenieks had an unpleasant crash in which the passenger Elvijs Mucenieks was injured. Whilst the injuries of the Latvian fighter are serious, the doctors have positive news.

The viceworld champions of 2017 were in scintillating form at the Spanish Grand Prix, and were trying out a new line on the wave section. Unfortunately they did not clear the jump and crashed heavily. As a result, Elvijs Mucenieks the passenger, sustained five broken ribs and L3 vertebra.

Immediate transfer to hospital followed, and Elvijs underwent surgery on Sunday. Fortunately, it went well, and according to the doctors, it is positive news. Also, the 30 years-old Elvijs Mucenieks is feeling relatively well, according to the TGM team. He will rest up in Spain for a few days before  returning to Belgium, where he currently lives, to begin convalesence.

When he returns to the world championship is obviously not clear at this moment, just as it is not clear who will continue alongside Valentin Giraud in the following championship races. But that's not the most important thing. The main thing is that Elvijs Mucenieks' injuries are neither life-threatening, nor life-changing, and that the prospects for a complete recovery are good.

So, Elvijs, be strong and get it right as soon as possible! We all wish you a speedy return.
