Sandmeisters Marvin and Ben close in, heading for familiar territory 12-13 September

18/08/2026

It would be a brave person to bet against Marvin Vanluchene and Ben van den Bogaart putting the title out of reach as they move towards the penultimate round in Varsseveld. Last-minute substitute for the scheduled Heerde round, this Dutch GP under the auspices of Gert van Werven’s “Giant Projects” organisation, is also the final round of the World Quadcross series, and it all happens over the second weekend of September.

The battle for the sidecar title is set to be enthralling across the top five crews, with one hundred and ten points still available from the final two rounds.

Killian and Evan Prunier’s second spot is looking increasingly vulnerable as the terrain will once again be sandy conditions. The same can be said of Brett Wilkinson and Joe Millard, currently holding fourth place, but with the Leferink brothers breathing down their necks. Brett and Joe took hard knocks last time out, but will be back to make amends. The Prunier brothers have Tim Prummer/Patrick Schneider just seventeen points behind them, and we all know the prowess of both Prummer and Leferink in the sand.

With the final round just one week later in Rudersberg, Marvin will be out to maximise his sand skills in Varsseveld so he can go to Germany with the job done. That said, he has repeatedly reminded us in interviews that this is a mechanical sport, and nothing can be certain until the race is over.

Further down the table and out of contention are some big names, all trying to close the season on a strong note. Among them, the Lielbardis twins, Koen Hermans/Dion Rietman and Davy Sanders/Jens Vincent.

This entry list is packed with other capable talent determined to upset the applecart, and we must include Dan Foden/Noah Weinmann and Julian Veldman/Rodolphe Lebreton in that bunch. It is to be hoped that Noah is fully recovered from his Lithuanian injuries.

Koen Grondman and Ross Vincent have shown improvement week on week, so watch out for them on home soil.

The Quads beef up the entertainment factor with the newly crowned 2026 World Champion Kevin Saar celebrating his first world title in the Varsseveld sand.
